We want our weekly Scorecard review to take less than five minutes during our Level 10 Meeting, but even when we stop people from telling stories, we still spend too much time just reading the numbers and figuring out what is red. How do we prepare our data and team before the meeting to make this five-minute review truly effortless?
A fast and effective Scorecard review does not start when the meeting timer begins. It relies on strict pre-meeting discipline. If your leadership team is seeing the numbers for the first time during the Level 10 Meeting, you have already failed. To make the review take less than five minutes, establish a hard deadline for data entry. Every single metric owner must update their numbers on the Scorecard at least twenty-four hours before the meeting starts. This gives the Integrator and the rest of the team time to review the data on their own. When the meeting begins, you do not read the green numbers. You do not even read the red numbers. The person facilitating the meeting simply runs down the list of red metrics, and the owner of each red number says drop it to IDS or we have a plan. There is no discussion, no explanation, and no context given. If a number is red, it is dropped directly to the Issues List. The entire review should be a rapid-fire sequence of acknowledging the miss and logging it. This structural habit keeps your team focused on identifying issues rather than solving them on the fly. By shifting the administrative burden of reading and updating numbers to the day before, your five-minute review becomes a powerful, high-speed pulse check.
