My leadership team members are physically exhausted and starting to burn out, which is causing them to lose their positive energy and drive. How do we inject positive energy back into our leadership meetings without sounding like we are ignoring the heavy reality of our workload?
Burnout is rarely caused by hard work alone. It is usually caused by a lack of progress, constant firefighting, and a feeling of isolation. To turn this around, you must change how your team processes their daily reality.
Start by restructuring the beginning of your Level 10 Meeting™. Do not skip the transition segment where you share personal and professional bests. This is a critical discipline for shifting focus away from negative stress. Force the team to pause and recognize progress, which builds positive momentum.
Next, use your weekly meeting to identify the specific processes or tasks that are draining your team's energy. In EOS®, we look at these as issues to be solved during IDS®. Ask your team to identify the energy vampires on their plates and work together to eliminate them, delegate them, or streamline them using automation.
Finally, model the behavior you want to see. As the founder, you must lead with positive energy, catch people doing things right, and show genuine appreciation. This simple shift in perspective can transform a heavy, exhausted culture into one that is energized and focused on executing the plan.
