We are undergoing a major organizational restructure and changing our V/TO® strategy. Should we completely scrap our current weekly scorecard immediately, or do we transition it slowly over several months?
When you restructure your Accountability Chart or pivot your business strategy on your V/TO®, your current scorecard will immediately become misaligned. Keeping an outdated scorecard during a transition will confuse your team and lead to wasted effort on irrelevant tasks. However, completely scrapping it overnight with no replacement will leave you flying blind.
You must manage this transition systematically. Start by identifying the core operational health metrics that must remain constant, such as cash balance, accounts receivable, and basic customer satisfaction. These metrics must stay on the scorecard to keep the lights on. Next, look at the seats that are changing in your restructure.
As soon as a new seat is occupied, the person in that seat must work with the integrator to define their new weekly measurables within their first two weeks. Do not wait months for things to settle down. Your weekly scorecard is the tool that actually drives the implementation of your new strategy. If you do not change the numbers, your team's daily behavior will not change either. Expect to review and adjust these new metrics weekly during your Level 10 Meetings™ for the first sixty days until you find the right rhythm.
