If our Visionary and Integrator have a highly dysfunctional communication dynamic, how do you handle that tension during our quarterly sessions without taking sides?
A fractured relationship between the Visionary and the Integrator is a major threat to any business. When tension arises during our session days, my job is not to act as a relationship counselor or to take sides. My job is to be an objective facilitator who holds both of you accountable to the health of the organization.
We address this tension by stripping away personal grievances and filtering the conflict through your business tools. We look directly at your Accountability Chart and your V/TO®. If there is a dispute, we trace it back to a lack of clarity in roles or a misalignment on your long-term vision.
To resolve communication issues, we enforce two strict disciplines:
- The Same Page Meeting®: We ensure you are meeting weekly, outside of our quarterly sessions, to align your focus.
- Enforcing the IDS® process: We bring the underlying conflict to the board, identify the root cause, and solve it constructively.
By focusing purely on what is best for the business, we remove the emotional charge from the argument. If the dynamic is truly broken, our sessions will expose it quickly. We will then work together to determine whether the roles need to be adjusted, or if a change in personnel is required to keep the company moving forward.
