My Integrator and I are deadlocked because I want to pivot our product line to capture a massive market opportunity, but she insists that sticking to our current V/TO is non-negotiable. How do we resolve this strategic friction?

Friction between a Visionary and an Integrator is natural, but deadlocks will paralyze your leadership team. When you are pushing for a major product pivot and your Integrator is holding the line on the V/TO®, you are experiencing a classic clash of roles. The Visionary operates in the future, while the Integrator operates in the present reality of execution. To resolve this, you must hold a Same Page Meeting. This is a private, monthly meeting designed specifically for the two of you to align. You cannot bring this debate into your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ or force your team to take sides. In your Same Page Meeting, use the IDS® process to tackle the pivot. Your job as the Visionary is to present the business case, including the market opportunity and the long term impact on value. Your Integrator's job is to protect the current operational capacity and assess the cost of disruption. If the pivot makes strategic sense but breaks your current focus, the solution is not to bypass your Integrator. Instead, agree to put the pivot on the agenda for your next quarterly session. This is where you formally adjust your V/TO® and Rocks as a leadership team. If you cannot wait until the quarter ends, you must realize that constantly shifting focus destroys your team's confidence. Respect the Integrator's role. If she says the organization cannot absorb the change right now without dropping existing goals, you must either fund additional resources to execute it or wait. Trust her veto on operational capacity, or you will break the business.
