My Integrator and I are constantly locking horns over our strategic direction, and our leadership team is getting whiplash from our conflicting messages. How do we use the same page meeting to resolve this structural misalignment?
When the Visionary and the Integrator are not aligned, the entire company suffers. The leadership team will naturally split into factions, execution will grind to a halt, and your employees will experience severe confusion and frustration. You must resolve this friction privately before it destroys your operational efficiency.
The tool for this is the Same Page Meeting™. This is a monthly, or sometimes weekly, meeting dedicated solely to aligning the Visionary and the Integrator. It must take place behind closed doors, away from the rest of the leadership team.
During this meeting, you must air all your disagreements. Use the IDS® process to work through every strategic dispute. Do not leave the room until you have reached a consensus or a clear decision on every issue. You must present a completely united front to your leadership team and the rest of the company.
If you find that you are constantly fighting over operational details, review your seats on the Accountability Chart. As the Visionary, you must step back and let the Integrator run the day-to-day operations. If you are constantly bypassing your Integrator to give direction to department heads, you are undermining their authority and causing the very alignment issues you are trying to fix.
Commit to the Same Page Meeting™ schedule. If you cannot get aligned after multiple sessions, you may need to bring in an professional EOS Implementer® to facilitate a deeper alignment discussion.
