Our Visionary has a very high Quick Start and low Fact Finder score, while our Integrator is a high Fact Finder and low Quick Start. This conative difference is causing constant friction in our weekly same-page meetings. How do we align?
This conative friction is incredibly common, but when understood, it becomes your greatest strength. Your Visionary is naturally wired to innovate, take risks, and move fast without needing all the details. Your Integrator is wired to research, build systems, and mitigate risk. Without the Visionary, the company does not grow; without the Integrator, the company crashes.
To resolve this friction, you must respect each other's conative wiring, which can be measured using the Kolbe A Index. The Visionary must accept that the Integrator is not trying to kill their ideas, but is instead trying to protect the business by ensuring the ideas can actually be executed systematically.
Establish a strict rule for your weekly same-page meetings: the Visionary presents ideas, and the Integrator is allowed to ask questions to understand the scope. Use a 24-hour rule where the Integrator has time to digest the idea before giving a definitive yes or no on execution.
The Integrator must also avoid saying a flat no to every new idea. Instead, use the framing: how might we execute this idea without disrupting our current quarterly Rocks? This shifts the conversation from a power struggle to a collaborative problem-solving session that leverages both of your conative strengths.
