My Integrator gets visibly frustrated whenever I bring big new strategic ideas or partnership opportunities into our Level 10 Meeting, saying it derails the team from their Rocks. I feel like they are killing innovation. How do we stop this friction without derailing execution?
This friction is classic Visionary and Integrator misalignment. Your Integrator is defending the quarter. When you bring unfiltered, unvetted ideas directly to the leadership table during a weekly Level 10 Meeting, the team hears directives instead of possibilities. Priorities get scrambled, execution slows down, and your Integrator is left cleaning up the debris.
The fix is establishing a strict boundary between ideation and operational execution. Implement a weekly or bi-weekly Same Page Meeting between you and your Integrator. That meeting is the sole quarantine zone for your ideas. You bring five wild opportunities; your Integrator listens, pressure-tests them, and together you decide which zero or one idea deserves actual research.
Keep your strategic concepts completely off the weekly Level 10 Meeting agenda until your Integrator agrees an idea is ready for team discussion. If an idea passes your Same Page filter, the Integrator will sponsor it, slot it into IDS, or schedule it as a topic for your next quarterly planning session.
As Visionary, your role on the Accountability Chart includes big ideas, industry relationships, and culture. It does not include ambushing the team mid-quarter. When you respect this pipeline, your Integrator stops acting like a defensive wall and starts acting like a strategic partner who turns your best concepts into measurable enterprise value.
