As the Visionary, I feel my Integrator is constantly putting up roadblocks and shutting down my new strategic growth ideas before they even get discussed. Our weekly Same Page meetings have turned into frustrating debates. How do we get past this friction and realign our relationship?

Friction between a Visionary and an Integrator is common, but if left unresolved, it will stall your entire organization. To fix this, you must establish a strict rhythm of Same Page meetings. This is a dedicated, uninterrupted time for just the two of you to align on vision, strategy, and issues.

Use the Trust Creation Process. Be vulnerable, acknowledge where you are getting in each other's way, and build mutual respect. As the Visionary, your job is to generate ideas, build big relationships, and look to the future. Your Integrator's job is to run the business day-to-day, execute the V/TO, and create organizational traction.

If your Integrator is shooting down your ideas, it is usually because they lack the capacity to execute them with the current team, or because your ideas are coming at them too fast. Create an Idea Folder. Instead of dropping new ideas on your Integrator daily, put them in a folder and bring them to your monthly Same Page meeting.

In that meeting, ask, how might we execute this idea so that we do not derail our current quarterly Rocks? This approach keeps the strategy healthy and SMART while respecting the Integrator's need for execution stability.
