My Integrator and I are constantly locking heads over the speed of our expansion. I want to chase new AI opportunities immediately to boost our exit valuation, but my Integrator insists on sticking to our current Rocks and V/TO. How do we resolve this fundamental friction without breaking our working relationship?
This friction is normal and healthy when channeled correctly. The Visionary role is to look ahead and generate ideas. The Integrator role is to execute, drive focus, and maintain organizational sanity. When you disagree on the speed of expansion, you must use your Same Page Meeting to resolve the issue before it infects the leadership team.
Start by reviewing your V/TO®. If an AI opportunity does not fit your current target or your three-year picture, it is a distraction, not an opportunity. Your Integrator is doing their job by keeping the team focused on your current Rocks. If you bypass this boundaries system, you create operational chaos and destroy your Integrator's authority.
To resolve this, agree on an Idea Incubator list. This is a designated section on your V/TO® where you park shiny new ideas. Your Integrator agrees to review this list with you monthly. During that time, you can run these ideas through the IDS® process. If an idea is truly game-changing, you can plan to introduce it during your next quarterly collaborative session. Until then, the Integrator has the final word on daily operations and execution. Your job is to support that focus, not disrupt it.
