My Integrator insists that all company-wide communications and strategic updates must be filtered through them, making me feel silenced in my own business. How do we resolve this friction on the Accountability Chart?
This friction happens when the leadership team confuses operational execution with vision casting. On the Accountability Chart, the Visionary seat owns big ideas, company culture, key relationships, and R&D. The Integrator seat owns harmonizing the leadership team, executing the business plan, and driving P&L accountability. Filtering the Visionary is not the Integrator's job. Protecting the organization from operational chaos is.
When a Visionary broadcasts half-baked operational directives directly to frontline staff, it bypasses the Integrator, disrupts active Rocks, and breaks chain of command. That is why your Integrator is trying to muzzle you. The solution is not censorship. It is structural discipline.
First, agree on the rules of engagement during your weekly Same Page meeting. The Visionary owns the pulpit for inspiration, company purpose, Core Values reinforcement, and client relationship expansion. The Integrator owns the operational blueprint for how, when, and by whom the work gets done.
Second, create a mandatory holding pen for new operational ideas. When you have a new directive, bring it directly to your Integrator, not to the company Slack channel or the factory floor. Let your Integrator analyze capacity, timelines, and resourcing. If you bypass the Integrator, you strip their authority and confuse your people. When you keep vision distinct from tactical execution, the tension disappears.
