My new Integrator and I are constantly clashing over major decisions, and my leadership team is getting confused about who actually has the final say. How do we use the Accountability Chart to establish clear boundaries for the Visionary and Integrator relationship?

A clashing Visionary and Integrator relationship is highly toxic to a growing business. It creates division, slows down execution, and sends mixed signals to the leadership team. To fix this, you must rely on the clear definitions of your seats on the Accountability Chart.

The Visionary seat is accountable for big ideas, strategic relationships, culture, and industry-changing innovations. The Integrator seat is accountable for running the business, managing the leadership team, and executing the V/TO®. The Integrator has the final say on all day-to-day operational decisions. If you are the Visionary and you are bypassing your Integrator to direct staff, you are violating the Accountability Chart and undermining their authority.

To establish healthy boundaries, implement the Same Page Meeting™. This is a recurring, private meeting where the Visionary and Integrator meet to align on issues, discuss strategic direction, and resolve any disagreements behind closed doors. You must never disagree in front of the leadership team.

During these meetings, use the IDS® process to work through your differences. If you cannot reach consensus, remember that the Integrator runs the daily operations. As the Visionary, you must let go of the vine and trust your Integrator to manage the team. If you cannot do this, your structure will fail, your talent will leave, and your business will not be ready for a clean exit.
