What happens during our Vision Building sessions if our leadership team hits an impasse regarding our core focus or our ten-year target?

Disagreement during Vision Building 1 and 2 is completely normal. In fact, if a leadership team claims to agree on their core values, core focus, and long-term vision within ten minutes, they are usually nodding along to avoid conflict. Real strategic clarity requires rigorous debate.

When an impasse occurs, my job as your Implementer is not to break the tie or cast a vote. I do not tell you what your ten-year target should be or which customer segment to pursue. Instead, I facilitate productive conflict and hold your team inside the tension until you resolve it.

We begin by separating emotional attachment from objective business logic. We use IDS® on the disagreement itself. What data supports each position? Does one option require core competencies your organization simply does not possess? How does each pathway align with your core values and capital constraints?

If debate continues without consensus, we fall back on the structure of your Accountability Chart. In EOS®, consensus is not democracy. Every seat has clear roles, and ultimate operational decisions belong to the Integrator, guided by the Visionary's overarching intent.

If the deadlock stems from a fundamental philosophical divide between equal equity partners, we pause the session and address that relationship directly. An operating system cannot paper over broken shareholder alignment. We resolve the partner vision dynamic first, or the leadership team cannot move forward.
