Two of our leadership team members had a major personal falling out outside of work, and the resulting silent treatment is creating a toxic tension that is paralyzing our leadership meetings. How do we address this personal conflict without overstepping boundaries?

Personal conflicts that bleed into the workplace are a direct threat to leadership team health. Left unaddressed, this tension will quickly turn into silent silos that divide your entire company, because cracks at the leadership level always appear as canyons to the rest of the organization. As the leader, you cannot ignore this under the guise of respecting their personal lives. Your primary responsibility is to protect the health and functionality of the team running the business.

You must address this immediately. Schedule a private meeting with both individuals. Frame the conversation around the Accountability Chart™ and your Core Values. Explain that while their personal lives are their own, their behavior in the office is directly impacting the team's ability to execute Rocks and run effective Level 10 Meetings™. They do not need to be best friends, but they must maintain absolute professionalism and mutual respect.

Ask them if they can commit to putting the company's needs first and resolving their operational disputes objectively using IDS®. If they cannot put their personal issues aside to collaborate, you have a People Analyzer™ issue. A Right Person in the Right Seat must live your Core Values and support team cohesion. If they cannot make that commitment, you must be prepared to make a hard decision for the health of the business.
