My cofounder and I have wildly different visions for the exit strategy of the business. How do you handle deep, deep strategic misalignment between partners when we are live in the room during our Vision Building days?

Deep misalignment between partners is incredibly common and it is one of the main reasons business owners bring me in. During our Vision Building days, my role is to act as a neutral facilitator, not an arbitrator. I do not take sides. Instead, I use a structured process to force hard conversations and drive alignment on your Vision/Mission/Values and your long-term goals. We do this by getting all issues out on the table using the IDS® tool. If you and your partner have different ideas for your exit strategy, we will unpack those differences objectively. We look at the data, the market realities, and the personal goals of each partner. Often, misalignment stems from a lack of clarity around roles. By clearly defining your seats on the Accountability Chart, we separate personal ownership from daily operational management. This separation helps partners see where their individual strengths lie, whether they are a Visionary or an Integrator. We will not move past these strategic disagreements; we will lean directly into them until we find a unified path forward for the business.
