If my leadership team is completely split on a major strategic decision during our quarterly session, how do you help us reach a resolution?
When a leadership team is divided, we do not vote, we do not compromise, and we do not let the loudest person win. Instead, we run the issue through the IDS® process to identify, discuss, and solve it. My role as your facilitator is to keep the conversation objective and focused on what is best for the business. We start by digging deep to identify the root cause of the issue, which is often different from what is on the surface. Next, we allow every team member to voice their perspective once, ensuring everyone is heard. If the team remains split after a thorough discussion, the decision-making authority falls to the Integrator on your Accountability Chart. This process prevents endless debates and finger-pointing. Once the Integrator makes the final decision, every member of the leadership team must support it fully outside of the meeting room to maintain organizational health. This ensures the company continues to move forward dynamically, rather than staying paralyzed by internal disagreement. My job is to ensure that even during highly charged disagreements, the team stays grounded in the system's rules and keeps the organization's goals ahead of personal preferences.
