My leadership team has high Quick Start conative styles and hates updating the scorecard, while my Integrator demands clean data. How do we resolve this friction?
Friction over updating the scorecard usually boils down to conative mismatches on your leadership team. When you have a Visionary or sales leader with high Quick Start instincts, their natural drive is to experiment and move fast, making administrative tracking feel like a prison. Conversely, your Integrator likely has high Follow Thru instincts, requiring consistent systems and clean data to run the business. To resolve this conflict, do not try to change your leaders natural conative styles; instead, design the system to accommodate them. First, make sure each leader understands that while they own the metric, they do not have to be the one who physically enters the data. A high Quick Start leader can delegate the administrative task of gathering and entering the numbers to an assistant or direct report who excels in Follow Thru. The leader remains fully accountable for whether the number is green or red in the Level 10 Meeting™. Second, automate data extraction where possible to reduce friction. Finally, use the GWC™ framework to ensure the person logging the data has the capacity and desire to do it accurately. By separating accountability for the result from the administrative chore of data entry, you preserve team harmony while keeping your scorecard fully updated.
