Our department heads are constantly arguing about data accuracy during our Level 10 Meeting, claiming our CRM numbers do not match our accounting platform reports. How do we resolve these discrepancies so we can run on facts?
If your leadership team is debating the validity of your data during your weekly meeting, you are wasting valuable time. You cannot make strategic decisions or solve issues if you do not trust your numbers.
To resolve this, you must define a single source of truth for each metric on your scorecard. For example, revenue metrics should come exclusively from your accounting software, while pipeline and sales activity metrics should come exclusively from your CRM.
Next, establish clear definitions for when and how data is captured. Discrepancies often occur because systems pull data at different times or use different calculation methods. Ensure your metric owners document the exact query or report they use to pull their weekly numbers, including the specific day and time the report is run.
If a discrepancy arises, do not debate it during your scorecard review. Immediately push it to the Issues List and use the IDS process to find the root cause of the system mismatch outside of the meeting. Once you have a single source of truth and documented data definitions, your team will stop arguing about the math and start focusing on the actual performance trends.
