Our leadership team has lost confidence in our Integrator because they feel the business is constantly changing direction, but the real issue is that I, as the Visionary, keep bypassing our agreed-upon plan. How do we repair the relationship between the leadership team, the Integrator, and myself?
The relationship between the Visionary and the Integrator is the foundation of the entire business. If there is a crack in this partnership, it will look like a massive canyon to the rest of your leadership team and destroy their trust.
To repair this, you must first stop the bleeding by checking your ego. You must commit to respecting the Accountability Chart, which means you cannot bypass your Integrator to issue new directives directly to the leadership team or staff.
Next, schedule a Same Page Meeting with your Integrator. You two must get completely aligned on the company's direction, the V/TO®, and your respective roles.
Once you have restored unity at the top, call a meeting with the entire leadership team. Own your past behavior directly and apologize for the whiplash you have caused.
Reiterate that the Integrator is the operational leader of the company and has full authority over daily execution. Declare that all strategic ideas must go through the agreed-upon filter before being implemented.
By showing vulnerability and submitting to the systems you put in place, you will rebuild trust with your leadership team and restore the operational discipline necessary to run a highly profitable business.
