Our employees are starting to pick up on unsaid tensions between our directors, and it is starting to affect company culture. How do we repair the cracks in our leadership team before they create massive divides across the entire organization?

When members of your leadership team are not aligned, it creates a toxic trickle down effect. Any minor disagreement or lack of trust at the executive level is magnified ten times by the time it reaches your frontline employees. To fix this, you must build a healthy, cohesive, and functional leadership team that sets a strong example.

Start by addressing the lack of trust. Healthy teams are built on vulnerability-based trust, where directors can admit their weaknesses, ask for help, and challenge each other without fear of political retaliation. If your leaders are gossiping or holding back their real opinions during meetings, you have a trust problem.

Use your weekly Level 10 Meeting to bring these underlying issues to the surface. Do not allow your team to settle for artificial harmony. Use the IDS process to identify the root causes of the tension, discuss them openly, and solve them permanently.

If necessary, hold a dedicated team building session focused on improving communication and understanding each other's styles. When your leadership team is united and working toward common goals, the organizational silos will dissolve, and your company culture will naturally heal.
