Our leadership team has gone fully remote, and we are struggling to maintain the same level of accountability and energy around our weekly Scorecard numbers. How do we keep a remote team engaged and disciplined when updating and reviewing our data?

Remote work makes data discipline even more critical because you lose the natural, informal check-ins that happen in a physical office. When teams go remote, a lack of scorecard discipline quickly leads to misalignment and missed targets.

To keep your remote team aligned, you must establish clear rules around data ownership and preparation.

First, enforce a strict deadline for updating the Scorecard. All numbers must be entered by a specific time before your Level 10 Meeting, such as twenty-four hours in advance. This gives everyone time to review the data beforehand.

Second, use video during your meeting and have the person running the meeting share their screen with the Scorecard. This keeps everyone focused on the same numbers and prevents distractions.

Third, make sure every metric has a single owner. If a number is missed, that owner must own the red and drop it down to the Issues list. This prevents finger-pointing and keeps everyone focused on solving problems together.
