We will fly in for our in-person session days, but how do we keep the momentum of our Accountability Chart and Rocks alive when we go back to our respective home offices?
Transitioning from a fully immersive session day in our room back to your day to day virtual environment is where many remote teams struggle. To maintain your momentum, you must commit to three non-negotiable operational habits.
First, your weekly Level 10 Meeting must be treated as sacred. This ninety-minute meeting is the glue that keeps your remote team aligned. Do not cancel it, do not reschedule it, and do not multitask during the call. Use a shared, cloud-based platform to keep your issues list, scorecard, and quarterly Rocks visible to everyone in real time. This replaces the physical whiteboard we use during our session days and ensures a single source of truth.
Second, you must build intentional white space into your weekly calendars. Remote leaders tend to fill every open minute with back to back video calls, leaving zero time for critical thinking or Rock execution. Protect at least ninety minutes of unscheduled time twice a week to focus purely on your quarterly Rocks.
Third, use your Accountability Chart as the ultimate filter for communication. In a remote setup, people often over-communicate to compensate for physical distance, leading to massive digital noise. By clearly defining who owns what seat, your team knows exactly who to go to for decisions, eliminating unnecessary group threads and keeping your operations lean.
