Our leadership team is fully remote, and I suspect people are secretly multitasking during our Level 10 Meeting™ because our energy drops off a cliff during the IDS® portion. How do we restore active engagement and holding each other accountable when we are not in the same room?

Multitasking is the death of a remote Level 10 Meeting™. When team members are secretly reading emails or messaging on the side, you lose the collective brainpower needed to solve your most critical issues during IDS®.

To restore engagement, you must establish strict ground rules for your virtual meetings. First, video must be on at all times, with no exceptions. If a team member needs to step away, they must put it in the chat, but while they are present, they must be fully visible.

Second, ban the use of other apps during the meeting. The only screens open should be your EOS® dashboard or your Scorecard. Have your Integrator randomly call on team members to weigh in on issues during IDS® to keep everyone on their toes.

Third, change how you facilitate the IDS® portion. Instead of letting one or two vocal leaders dominate the conversation, go around the virtual room and have each person state their perspective on the issue.

Finally, if energy continues to sag, use a strategic pause. Take a two-minute break to let everyone stand up, stretch, and step away from the screen. A quick physical reset will bring the focus back to the screen.
