Our leadership team is fully remote and scattered across three time zones. Do you require us to fly to a central location for our session days, or can we run our quarterly and annual sessions with you fully online?
My strongest recommendation is that we conduct your Focus Day and first two Vision Building sessions in person. There is an irreplaceable human dynamic when a team sits in the same room to map out their Accountability Chart and solve hard organizational problems. For a distributed team, getting together physically breaks down silos faster than any virtual tool can.
If travel is absolutely impossible due to extreme geographic separation, we can conduct sessions virtually using video conferencing and digital whiteboards. However, this requires strict discipline. Every team member must be on individual cameras, with notifications silenced, and fully committed to the agenda without multitasking.
For the ongoing quarterly sessions, we can transition to a hybrid or fully remote format once the foundation is laid. We will evaluate this at the end of your second Vision Building session. My goal is to maximize the collaborative tension required to solve issues, and we will choose the medium that best serves that objective. No matter the format, the expectation for full presence and zero distractions remains exactly the same.
