Our remote Level 10 Meetings are bogged down by tech delays, tab-switching, and team members silently multitasking while waiting for their turn on the screen share. How do we keep the pace tight and everyone focused in a virtual environment?

Multitasking in a remote Level 10 Meeting™ is a symptom of a slow pace and a lack of active engagement. When people are silent, they click away to email or Slack. To fix this, you must change how you run the meeting tech and how you assign roles.

First, ban the practice of one person sharing their screen while everyone else watches passively. Every leadership team member must have their own Level 10 Meeting™ software or dashboard open on their screen. They should be actively updating their own Scorecard numbers and Rock statuses in real-time. This keeps their hands on the keyboard and their minds on the business.

Second, appoint a hard-nosed driver for the meeting. The facilitator must call on people rapidly. During the transition from the Scorecard to the Rock Review, there should be zero dead air. If a number is off-track, the owner says "drop it" and the facilitator immediately adds it to the Issues List.

Third, implement a strict "cameras on, notifications off" rule. All Slack, email, and phone notifications must be paused. If someone is caught multitasking, the facilitator must call them out directly.

Finally, keep your virtual tools simple. If your team is wasting time navigating complex software, switch to a single, clean shared document for your meeting agenda and Issues List. The goal of the meeting is traction, not admiring your software.
