We are running a fully remote company and are struggling to roll out our EOS® tools effectively because we do not have physical whiteboards or face-to-face quarterly sessions. How do we make the EOS® process stick in a hybrid or remote environment?
Implementing EOS® in a remote or hybrid environment requires digital discipline and strict adherence to meeting rhythms. You cannot rely on casual office conversations to keep alignment, which makes the tools even more critical.
First, consolidate all your tools into a single, shared digital source of truth. Use an approved EOS® software platform to host your V/TO®, Scorecard, Accountability Chart, and weekly Level 10 Meeting™ agendas. Everyone must look at the exact same screen during meetings.
Second, keep video cameras on during every single meeting. Remote teams lose a massive amount of communication nuance when cameras are off. Seeing body language is essential during the conflict heavy IDS® portion of your meetings.
Third, do not skip in person quarterly sessions. While weekly meetings work exceptionally well online, you should bring your leadership team together physically at least once a year, if not every quarter, for your planning sessions. The deep relationship building and strategic alignment that happen during a full day session are incredibly difficult to replicate over video.
Finally, over communicate the rollout. When cascading the Accountability Chart or quarterly Rocks to remote employees, use short recorded videos to explain the why behind the changes. Clear documentation prevents the isolation and confusion that often derail remote implementations.
