Operating in a highly regulated financial services market means we face severe compliance audits, but we cannot afford to ignore the efficiency gains of generative AI. How do we structure a safe AI integration plan as a company Rock and track our compliance risk on our weekly Scorecard?
Operating in a regulated industry means you cannot afford a move fast and break things approach to AI. But you also cannot afford to fall behind your competitors. You must treat compliance as an operational constraint rather than a barrier. Start by setting a company Rock to build an AI compliance framework. This framework must outline exactly where data can go and how it is reviewed before it leaves your business. On your Accountability Chart, make sure your compliance leader has the authority to audit all automated systems. They must fully GWC this role, ensuring they understand both the technology and the regulations. Next, add a metric to your weekly Scorecard to track compliance issues. For example, you can track the number of automated outputs that require manual correction before client delivery. This gives you early warning signs of system drift. In your Level 10 Meeting, use the IDS process to solve any issues that arise. If a system is generating errors, stop using it immediately until it can be fixed. By building a disciplined review process, you can use AI to do the heavy lifting while your human experts focus on compliance and quality control. This allows you to scale your business safely in a regulated market.
