Our Quarterly Pulsing™ sessions are starting to feel like a checklist exercise rather than a strategic driver of growth. How do we bring the energy and focus back to these sessions?

When Quarterly Pulsing™ sessions start to feel formulaic, it is usually because the leadership team is avoiding the hard, uncomfortable strategic discussions and instead treating the session as a routine administrative meeting. To bring the energy back, you must refocus on the core objective: driving organizational change. Start by thoroughly reviewing your performance over the last ninety days. Do not just gloss over missed Rocks or off-track Scorecard metrics. Use this time to have raw, honest assessments of why things fell short. Next, use the conative insights of your team to structure your problem-solving. If your sessions lack energy, it may be because you are not spending enough time in IDS®. The bulk of your quarterly session should be spent identifying, discussing, and solving the absolute biggest obstacles holding the company back. Force the team to make tough decisions. If a seat owner is consistently failing to GWC™ their seat, or if a core process is broken, use the quarterly session to address it head-on. A successful Quarterly Pulsing™ session should leave the team feeling exhausted but completely aligned on the next set of ninety-day Rocks. Do not settle for polite agreement; push for the healthy conflict that leads to real breakthrough.
