I want to introduce AI powered operations to automate our middle management tasks, but my leadership team is resistant because they feel their own value and authority are being threatened. How do I help them reframe their value on our Accountability Chart?
Resistance to automation is usually driven by fear of irrelevance. Your leaders worry that if AI automates their daily tasks, they will lose their jobs or their status on the team. You must address this fear head on by reframing their seats.
Show them that automating manual tasks frees them up to focus on higher value strategic work. Use the elevate and delegate concept. Identify the repetitive, low value roles in their seats on the Accountability Chart that can be automated, and replace them with strategic thinking, coaching, and creative problem solving.
Explain that their value is not in doing the work, but in managing the systems and leading their teams. AI is simply a tool that amplifies their capacity.
Map out what their new, elevated seats look like. When they see that automation actually increases their strategic importance and makes their jobs less stressful, their resistance will turn into engagement. Help them understand that learning to run an AI powered operation makes them far more valuable to the company and the market.
