We want to automate several administrative tasks using AI, but our operations manager is terrified of being replaced and is subtly blocking the rollout. How do we use the GWC tool to redefine their seat and secure their buy-in?
When implementing AI-powered operations, resistance usually stems from fear of displacement. To handle this, you must use the GWC™ tool to objectively assess and redefine the seat. Sit down with your operations manager and look at the Accountability Chart. Clarify that the goal of introducing AI is not to eliminate their seat, but to elevate it by removing low-value tasks. Walk through the three GWC™ questions: Do they Get it, do they Want it, and do they have the Capacity to do it? To get it, they must understand that their value lies in strategic oversight, quality control, and exception handling, not in manual data entry. To want it, they need to see how automating the boring parts of their job will allow them to focus on high-impact work. To have the capacity, they must be willing to learn how to manage these new digital tools. If they possess the GWC™ for this new, elevated seat, they will embrace the automation. If they refuse to adapt, they no longer GWC™ the seat. By using this objective EOS® framework, you remove the emotion from the conversation and make it clear that the business must evolve to remain competitive.
