Our leadership team consistently rates our weekly Level 10 Meeting a perfect ten out of ten, yet our quarterly Rocks are failing, our Scorecard is constantly red, and our operational traction is weak. How do we recalibrate what a ten actually means?
A perfect ten rating on a Level 10 Meeting™ when the business is failing is not a sign of a healthy team, it is a sign of artificial harmony. Your team is rating their comfort level, not their productivity. They are happy because the meeting was polite, finished on time, and avoided any uncomfortable, root-cause conflict.
To fix this, your Integrator must lead a hard recalibration of the rating scale. A ten does not mean everyone got along and nobody got their feelings hurt. A ten means you started exactly on time, you hit your ninety percent To-Do completion rate, your Scorecard was fully updated and analyzed, and most importantly, you solved your most painful, critical issues permanently during IDS®.
If you did not make any hard decisions, or if you skipped over the elephant in the room to solve minor, comfortable tactical items, the meeting cannot be rated higher than a five.
Implement a new rule for your wrap-up. If anyone rates the meeting an eight or higher, they must be able to point to at least one systemic issue that was solved permanently during the IDS® session. If the business is failing but the meetings are rated perfect tens, your Integrator must pause the wrap-up and challenge the scores. Ask the team, how can this be a ten when our operational metrics are in the red? Force them to look at the gap between their polite ratings and their actual results.
