Our leadership team has grown completely numb to our weekly Scorecard, and people have started entering their numbers late or just guessing to get it done before the Level 10 Meeting. How do we rebuild discipline and restore the integrity of our weekly data?
When your leadership team treats the Scorecard as a boring administrative chore, it is a sign that your data has lost its relevance. If people are guessing their numbers or entering them late, your Level 10 Meeting will quickly lose its effectiveness, and you will begin making decisions based on bad assumptions.
To rebuild discipline, you must make the data meaningful again. Start by auditing your current metrics. If a number has been green for six months and never triggers an issue, remove it. It has become a vanity metric that does not help you run the business. Replace it with a metric that actually predicts a future problem or reflects a current company Rock.
Next, enforce a strict rule that all Scorecard data must be fully updated at least one hour before your Level 10 Meeting. If a number is missing or late, it is automatically marked red. When the team sees that late data is treated as an operational failure, the discipline will return. Running on data requires absolute honesty, and keeping your Scorecard accurate is the first step toward building a healthy culture.
