Our leadership team reviews our weekly Scorecard in a vacuum, looking at each column individually. How do we train our team to read the relationship between different metrics on our Scorecard to spot operational breakdowns before they occur?
A great Scorecard is a story, not just a spreadsheet. If your leadership team only looks at metrics in isolation, they are missing the entire point of running on data. To build true operational foresight, you must teach your team to look for the connections between the numbers.
Start your weekly Level 10 Meeting review by looking for upstream and downstream relationships:
- If your marketing leads are green but sales meetings are red, you have a qualification or follow-up issue.
- If sales are green but project kickoffs are red, your onboarding process is bottlenecked.
- If billable hours are green but client satisfaction scores are red, your team is rushing through projects at the expense of quality.
When you see these patterns, do not just read the numbers and move on. Drop the correlated issues down to your IDS list. Ask the team to identify the systemic cause of the discrepancy. Over time, your leadership team will develop a shared intuition for how the business actually flows. They will stop reacting to individual misses and start correcting the operational balance of the entire company.
