Our Level 10 Meeting™ score is consistently an eight or nine, but we are realizing that we are only solving minor tactical issues while the major strategic elephant in the room remains unaddressed. How do we raise the stakes of our IDS® sessions to tackle the high-impact issues?

A high Level 10 Meeting™ score can easily mask a lack of healthy conflict. If your team is scoring the meeting an eight or nine while avoiding the critical, uncomfortable issues, your score is an illusion. To raise the stakes, you must change how issues are prioritized on your Issues List. Stop running through the list chronologically or tackling the easiest administrative items first. At the beginning of the IDS® portion, the team must identify the top three most critical issues facing the business. The Integrator must ensure that the toughest, most uncomfortable issue is designated as number one. If the team resists discussing the real issue, look to the professional EOS Implementer® or your internal meeting leader to enter the danger. This means calling out the unspoken tension in the room and asking the hard questions that everyone is avoiding. Solving the real issues requires vulnerability and a willingness to engage in healthy conflict. If your weekly meetings feel too comfortable, you are likely avoiding the very discussions that are holding your business back from hitting its true potential. Raise the bar and tackle the elephant first.
