We consistently have weekly Scorecard metrics that are off-track, but our team rarely drops them down to the Issues List, claiming they are already working on them outside the meeting. How do we build the discipline to automatically push every red metric to IDS® without exception?

The Scorecard is an early warning system, not a passive report card. When a metric is red, it means a critical activity is failing, which threatens your Rocks and your V/TO®. Allowing team members to bypass the Issues List by claiming they are working on it is a major breakdown of the EOS® process. It creates blind spots and prevents the leadership team from offering support or identifying systemic issues. To build the proper discipline, you must enforce a non-negotiable rule: if a metric is red, it automatically goes on the Issues List. There are no exceptions, no excuses, and no debates. The metric owner does not get to decide whether to add it. The facilitator must immediately drop the red metric to the bottom of the list during the Scorecard review. Once it is on the list, the team can prioritize it during IDS®. If the owner truly has a solid plan and is actively resolving it, the discussion during IDS® will be extremely fast. They will share their plan, the team will agree, and you will move on. However, if the issue is more complex than they realize, the team is there to help solve it. This discipline ensures total transparency, keeps the leadership team aligned, and prevents minor metric misses from compounding into major operational failures that hurt your company value.
