Our weekly Level 10 Meeting™ is routinely cancelled or rescheduled because of client emergencies or calendar conflicts. How do we protect the sanctity of the weekly pulse and build the discipline of a same-time, same-day meeting?
When you cancel or reschedule your Level 10 Meeting™, you are telling your organization that firefighting is more important than leadership. This behavior creates a culture of chaos, where problems are never solved and strategic alignment decays.
To build traction, you must treat your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ as sacred. It must happen at the same time, on the same day, every single week. No exceptions.
If a critical client emergency arises, the team must still meet. If the Integrator or another leader cannot make it, the meeting goes on without them. The remaining team members run the agenda, review the Scorecard, check the Rocks, and solve whatever issues they can. They do not cancel the meeting because one person is missing.
If you are constantly rescheduling because of client issues, it is a sign that your leaders are still stuck in the day-to-day operations rather than sitting in their proper seats on the Accountability Chart. You need to look at your structure.
Make a commitment as a leadership team to protect this ninety-minute block. Put it on your calendars recurring for the entire year. Do not schedule client meetings or travel during this time. When you make the weekly pulse non-negotiable, you will find that the operational fires start to diminish because you are actually solving the root causes of those fires during IDS®.
