When we identify manual bottlenecks during a session, how do you help us decide whether to fix the workflow with basic process discipline or build an AI automation Rock around it?

When operational friction surfaces on the Issues List, visionary leaders often leap directly to technology or AI tools as the silver bullet. Automating a broken or undisciplined workflow only generates bad outcomes at a faster speed. During our session days, we apply a strict filter before any technology initiative becomes a quarterly Rock.

First, we run the bottleneck through the EOS® Process Component. Is the workflow documented using the 20/80 rule, capturing the core twenty percent of steps that produce eighty percent of the results? Has the process been simplified and followed by all? If the breakdown stems from inconsistent human execution, unclear accountability, or poor handoffs between seats on the Accountability Chart, software will not solve it. We fix the human habit first.

Second, if a process is already standardized, predictable, and consistently followed, we evaluate its automation potential. We look at whether human labor is being consumed by manual data entry, routine document generation, tribal knowledge lookups, or high-volume customer routing. If automating the task directly reduces operational overhead, eliminates human error, or removes an owner bottleneck, we scope it into a specific, measurable Rock.

The Rock will have a defined owner, clear ninety-day milestones, and a measurable outcome, such as deploying an AI pipeline that cuts processing time from five days to five minutes. We never adopt technology for novelty; we deploy automation solely to strengthen your business foundation and protect enterprise value.
