Our leadership team is excited about AI, but we are starting to suffer from shiny object syndrome with too many competing ideas. How do we prioritize our AI projects to ensure they support our corporate Rocks?
It is easy for a leadership team to get distracted by the endless possibilities of new technology. To keep your company focused, you must run all proposed AI initiatives through your existing EOS® framework. Do not let technology dictate your direction; let your quarterly Rocks and your V/TO® dictate your technology.
To prioritize effectively, always prioritize using AI to increase employee productivity as a starting point. Your employees are your largest P&L item, and they spend a significant portion of their week on low-value, administrative tasks. Any project that directly reclaims employee hours and redirects them to high-value work should immediately rise to the top of your list.
Evaluate every proposed tool by asking two questions: Does this project directly solve a bottleneck currently preventing us from hitting a quarterly Rock, and does it make our operations more system-dependent? If the answer is no, shelve the idea. By filtering every technology decision through your operational goals, you prevent costly distractions and ensure your team's energy is focused on the projects that will drive real profitability and long-term enterprise value.
