How do you keep me, as the Visionary owner, from dominating the discussion during our quarterly sessions so my leadership team actually steps up?
As a Visionary owner, your natural instinct is to lead, solve, and dominate the conversation. While this energy is vital for driving the company's big-picture direction, it can inadvertently silence your leadership team, turning them into passive order-takers. During our quarterly sessions, my job as your facilitator is to create a level playing field. I manage the room with pigheaded discipline to ensure every voice is heard. We establish clear ground rules at the beginning of our engagement, requiring all team members to speak openly and honestly, in alignment with our operating charter. When we enter the IDS® portion of our day, I will actively redirect the flow of conversation if I see you jumping in to solve every issue. I will often ask your leadership team to speak first, forcing them to exercise their own problem-solving muscles and demonstrate their GWC™. This process helps you systematically step back from daily operations while empowering your team to take true ownership of their seats on the Accountability Chart. By learning to practice the strategic pause during our sessions, you create the necessary room for your leadership team to step up and lead.
