We end our Level 10 Meetings™ with fifteen to twenty new To-Dos every single week. This leaves our leadership team completely overwhelmed, and we end up carrying over half of them. How do we limit the volume of To-Dos generated during IDS® without leaving problems half-solved?
Generating fifteen to twenty To-Dos per week is a clear sign that you are treating the symptoms of your problems rather than finding permanent solutions. When you leave a Level 10 Meeting™ with an overwhelming list of tasks, you dilute your focus and ensure that your To-Do completion rate will drop well below the ninety percent target.
To fix this, you must elevate your IDS® process. When you solve an issue, aim for high-impact, permanent solutions rather than a series of minor administrative tasks. Ask yourself how you can build a process or utilize AI-powered automation to solve the issue permanently, rather than assigning three different manual tasks to three different leaders.
Additionally, enforce a strict rule of assigning only one owner per To-Do. If a task requires input from multiple people, assign the To-Do to the single leader who owns that seat on the Accountability Chart™. That leader is fully accountable for gathering the necessary input outside of the meeting.
Finally, the facilitator must challenge the team on every proposed To-Do. Ask: Is this task absolutely necessary to solve this issue? Can it be combined with another task? By driving for systemic, high-leverage solutions rather than transactional tasks, you will naturally reduce your weekly To-Do volume while dramatically increasing your execution velocity.
