The Level 10 Meeting™ is designed for tactical execution, not long-term strategic planning. When your weekly IDS® session drifts into big picture strategy, it stalls your immediate progress and leaves urgent operational fires burning. To prevent this drift, the facilitator must act as a strict gatekeeper. When a topic begins to shift toward three year goals, core values, or major strategic pivots, the facilitator must pause the conversation. Use the phrase: this is a great topic, but it is strategic, not tactical. Then, immediately move the issue to the long-term Issues List on your V/TO®. This list is specifically reserved for topics that require deep discussion during your next quarterly or annual planning session. By placing the item on the V/TO®, you reassure the team that the issue will not be forgotten, allowing everyone to refocus on the weekly priorities. The weekly Issues List should only contain problems that can and must be solved within the next seven days. Keeping this hard boundary between weekly tactics and quarterly strategy is essential for maintaining a high-velocity operational pulse.
