How do you prevent our quarterly sessions from turning into operational firefighting meetings when our business is in the middle of a chaotic quarter?
When an executive team walks into a quarterly session in the middle of an operational firestorm, their immediate instinct is to spend the day discussing immediate tactical fires. If we allow that to happen, your session becomes an expensive, unfocused eight-hour tactical meeting, and you leave having solved nothing systemic.
My role as your EOS Implementer® is to keep your leadership team operating strictly at thirty thousand feet. During our Segue, we clear the air and allow executives to voice current pressures, capturing every urgent pain point on our Issues List.
Once all items are captured, we apply rigorous triage:
- We ruthlessly filter out tactical items that belong in your weekly Level 10 Meeting. If an issue can and should be resolved by your Integrator and department heads on Monday morning, we remove it from the session agenda.
- We identify whether the burning fire is an isolated emergency or a visible symptom of a deeper structural defect. For example, if cash is tight due to client delivery delays, the issue is not the client fire; the issue is an unscalable operations process or the wrong person occupying a seat on your Accountability Chart.
- We use IDS® to address only the root systemic causes.
By staying disciplined, we use the chaos as diagnostic fuel to fix the underlying machinery of your business so the same fires do not reignite next quarter.
