We are worried about hitting a plateau in our execution. What mechanisms do you use during our quarterly session days to challenge us when our targets feel too comfortable or safe?
Hitting an operational plateau is a common risk for teams that have mastered the basics of EOS®. Once you get good at hitting your quarterly goals, it is easy to start setting soft targets to guarantee a high completion rate.
During our quarterly session days, I look closely at your previous performance trends. If I see that you hit one hundred percent of your Rocks for consecutive quarters without any real struggle, I will call you out. I use your own data, your industry benchmarks, and your long-term vision to challenge your assumptions. We will look at your 3-Year Picture and analyze whether your current pace of execution will actually get you there.
I also use the GWC™ tool to evaluate if the team is operating at its full capacity. We will look at whether you have the right people in the right seats to drive more aggressive growth. If your targets are safe because you are trying to protect underperforming team members, we will put that issue on the table and IDS® it.
My role is to be an objective, external partner who does not care about your comfort zones. I will push you to set targets that stretch your capabilities while remaining realistic. We want targets that make you slightly uncomfortable because that is where your operational growth occurs.
