Our weekly Level 10 Meeting™ has devolved into a ninety-minute status report where people just list what they did last week instead of solving real issues. How do we reset the meeting to focus on actual Traction?
Your Level 10 Meeting™ is failing if it has devolved into a status reporting session. The reporting sections of the meeting (Scorecard, Rock review, headlines, and to-do list) should take less than twenty-five minutes combined. There is zero room for discussion during reporting. If a metric is off or a Rock is off-track, simply say drop it to the Issues List. Do not start explaining why or defending your performance during the reporting phase. Once you have a populated Issues List, prioritize the top three and spend the remaining fifty minutes strictly identifying, discussing, and solving those root-cause problems using IDS®. Force your Integrator to police this boundary ruthlessly during every single meeting. When you eliminate the storytelling and status updates, your team will have the time to solve actual problems permanently, which is what builds real operational momentum and makes the meeting valuable. If you leave the meeting without solving problems, you are just talking, and talking does not build enterprise value. Focus on output, not updates.
