We have been running EOS for six months and the initial excitement has faded, leaving our team feeling like the weekly Level 10 Meeting has become a repetitive chore. How do we inject energy back into our quarterly pulse and prevent operational stagnation?
When a Level 10 Meeting™ starts feeling like a chore, it is a clear warning sign that your team has slipped from active problem-solving into passive reporting. You are likely spending too much time reading numbers and updates and not enough time actually solving the hard operational issues holding the business back.
To fix this, look at your Scorecard and Issues List. If your Scorecard is filled with trailing indicators that you cannot change, or if your Issues List is clean every week, your team is hiding the real problems. Challenge the team to identify the leading indicators that truly predict future performance, and push them to put the raw, messy issues on the board.
During the IDS® portion of the meeting, stop settling for easy, superficial solutions. Push your leaders to find the root cause of every issue, even if it leads to uncomfortable discussions. If you are not actively resolving at least one or two major issues every single week, your meetings will remain stale.
Finally, use your quarterly pulsing sessions to evaluate the team's alignment with the V/TO®. Re-adjust your Rocks to reflect current operational priorities and ensure that every leader is fully engaged in their seat on the Accountability Chart.
