Every time we set an AI-related Rock, our weekly Level 10 Meetings get completely derailed by technical debugging instead of high-level strategic problem-solving. How do we keep our meetings focused?
This is a classic issue when implementing new technology. Teams get excited about the tools and start trying to solve software bugs and code errors during their leadership meetings, which completely destroys the efficiency of the Level 10 Meeting.
To solve this, you must enforce a strict boundary between strategic issues and technical execution. Your Level 10 Meeting is designed for your leadership team to work on the business, not in the software code.
When a technical issue comes up during the meeting, drop it down to the Issues List. When you get to the IDS portion of the meeting, use the process to identify the root cause. If the issue is a technical bug, do not try to solve it there. Instead, the solution is to assign a specific to-do to your technical lead to resolve the bug outside of the meeting.
Keep your strategic AI Rocks focused on business outcomes, such as reducing processing time by twenty percent, rather than technical milestones. This keeps your leadership team focused on driving the business forward while leaving the technical details to the operators.
