Our weekly Scorecard review is supposed to take less than five minutes during our Level 10 Meeting, but we constantly get sucked into explaining why a number is red rather than just logging the issue. How do we build a strict operational habit that prevents storytelling during this section?
The weekly Scorecard review is a quick pulse check, not a problem-solving session. To keep this section under five minutes, you must enforce a strict rule of zero explanations. The Integrator must lead this discipline with absolute consistency.
During the review, the person accountable for each metric simply reads the name of the metric, the weekly target, and the actual number. If the number is green, move to the next line. If the number is red, the owner of that metric must only say "drop it to IDS" to log it as an issue for later in the meeting. No one is allowed to explain why the number was missed, what they are doing to fix it, or whose fault it was.
Storytelling ruins the tempo of the Level 10 Meeting and allows team members to hide behind excuses. By dropping the red metrics straight to the Issues List, you preserve your team's energy for the IDS portion of the meeting where you can actually solve the root causes. If a metric is red, it is an issue. Log it, keep moving, and protect your five-minute timeline.
