We do not want to waste our expensive full day sessions with you on basic administrative updates. What specific preparation do you require from each leadership team member before we walk into the room for our quarterly and annual meetings?
Our full day sessions are high-intensity working sessions, not status updates. To protect this valuable time, I expect your leadership team to complete specific preparation before they enter the room.
First, your team must complete their pre-work, which includes reviewing your V/TO and analyzing your performance over the last ninety days. This is not about generating long, narrative reports. It is about identifying the hard facts of what went well and what did not.
Second, every leader must review their individual and team Rocks to determine what was completed and what was missed. We do not spend session time debating why something was not done. We capture the missed items as issues to be solved later in the day.
Third, you must prepare a list of the most critical issues facing the company. These should be loaded into our issues list ahead of time so we can prioritize them immediately.
Finally, everyone must come with a mindset of open and honest participation. This means leaving your title at the door, being willing to hear constructive feedback, and preparing to engage in healthy conflict. This discipline ensures we spend our eight hours together solving major strategic problems rather than getting bogged down in daily administrative updates.
