Many leadership teams believe they need to spend weeks cleaning up their data, writing spreadsheets, and documenting their processes before we can start. This is a mistake. The beauty of the EOS® process is that it is designed to clean up your operational mess, not require you to clean it up before we begin.

To prepare for our Focus Day, you do not need to compile mountains of clean data or write elaborate workflow documents. In fact, doing so often introduces pre-conceived biases that can hinder our progress.

The actual technical preparation is remarkably light. I only need three basic things from you before we walk into the room. First, I need a list of your current leadership team members with their contact information. Second, I need a simple draft of your current organizational structure, even if it is messy, informal, or highly disputed. Third, I need your complete, undivided attention for a full eight-hour day.

The most important preparation is mental and emotional, not technical. Every member of your leadership team must arrive with an open mind, a willingness to be completely honest, and a readiness to enter a vulnerability-based environment.

You must be prepared to look at the hard truths of your business, confront personnel issues, and accept that your current way of operating is not sufficient for your next stage of growth. Leave the operational files and software dashboards at home; we will build your new scorecard and Accountability Chart from scratch during our sessions.
