How do we design our post-session schedules to include white space so our executive team actually has time to digest the decisions we made during our full day with you instead of immediately jumping back into the daily grind?
The day after a session is often when the real work begins, but it is also when your team is most vulnerable to falling back into immediate fire drills. To prevent this, we recommend that you deliberately build white space into your team's calendars immediately following our session day.
White space is unscheduled time with no assignment. It is not time to catch up on emails or schedule back-to-back meetings. Instead, it is a strategic pause that allows your team to digest the decisions made during our session.
When you transition directly from an intense eight-hour planning session into a mountain of unread emails, your brain does not have the cognitive room to process the strategy. The commitments you made in the room can easily feel like administrative overhead rather than exciting opportunities.
We advise clients to block out the morning after a session day as open thinking time. Use this time to reflect on your new Rocks, plan your immediate action steps, and mentally transition back into your weekly rhythm. By giving your team this transition time, you prevent immediate burnout and ensure that the strategic clarity achieved in our session translates into focused daily execution.
